Axel Krygier is an artist somewhat unconventional, a wizard experimenting with sounds and who has always been driven by the need to surprise, to baffle and to stray from the existing music categories. How to describe the sound of Axel Krygier? The first comparison that comes to mind would be to Brazilian artist Tom Zé. There is also Serge Gainsbourg of course. Eccentricity and a fun approach to composing help him create music from another planet. The result is a mix of unexpected styles of music, packed with inherent burlesque made of snippets of jazz, crumbs of pop, whiffs of cumbia and Argentinean folk music and elegantly tempered with electro music.
This multi-instrumentalist born in Buenos Aires dabbles with everything and started his sonic experimentations as a teenager using a multi-track and a vivid imagination. “Echale Semilla”, his first album released in 1999, had a big impact on the music scene of Argentina at the time and opened up new perspectives in a musical landscape dominated by pop-rock and all sorts of genres of Anglo-Saxon influences.
Axel Krygier voluntarily went into exile in Barcelona to pursue his musical adventures. He got involved in many projects and won over the European audience playing at the biggest festivals. His work as a soundtrack composer for the cinema and the theatre represents a great part in his career. Some of it was edited in 2003, with the release of “ Secreto y Malibu”, a music composed for a play. Going back to Argentina in 2004, he released the acclaimed album “Zorzal” on the “Los Años Luz Discos” label. Then he joined Zizek, a collective experimenting in mixing the traditional Latin-Folk heritage with electronic music. With the release of his fourth album, “Pesebre”, this month in Europe on Belgian label “Crammed Discs”, Axel Krygier has shown a desire to reconquer the European audience. In fact, the artist plan to spend more and more time in Paris and start a new band on the old continent.
