Hailing from Brittany, The Blackstarliners are formed by producer Ayato, vocalist Sistanice and percussionist Younity. On stage they deliver a combination of dub and electro close to Weeding Dub or Zion Train with an added pinch of madness. Leaving computers aside, their live performances are based on instruments and analogue effects. The band has received positive and encouraging reviews from the French press
To open the night Madu will celebrate the launch of their new single Sunshine. Fronted by dub and beats controller Salim and vocalist Aminah, this band plays a catchy and infectious mix of dub, soul and reggae. Ireland’s answer to New Zealand Fat Freddy’s Drop, Madu’s performance at Africa day 2010 will be remembered as one of the highlights of this year’s festival. Their debut single Sunshine / One mission, released on i-tunes and major on-line stores unveils the positive vibrations of a band on the rise.
Following the band’s performance, Dj iZem will take over behind the desks for a special dub/reggae/dubstep/cumbia set. Co-Founder of Groovalizacion and Dublin Tropical DJ resident, he has completed a tour of Europe this summer, including performances at the Love Box festival and an unforgettable set at the DLR festival of world cultures.
