Groovalizacion Radio is glad to announce its collaboration with Radio hemisphere.
Broadcasting live from 12-midday on Friday 23 July straight through the weekend until 12-midnight on Sunday 25, Radio Hemisphere celebrate the 10th anniversary of the DLR festival of world cultures, Dublin / Ireland.
For the occasion the Groovalizacion crew has been producing three radios program to offer a deep insight into two musical genre : Afrobeat and Cumbia.
"Afrochill mix" will present an hour of low tempo and chilled Afrobeat from different part of the world.
In a first part "Global Afrobeat" will explore the root of the movement focusing the history of its musical leader Fela Kuti . The second part looks at Fela kuti’s legacy focusing on today new global Afrobeat scene. The documentary includes exclusive interviews of Dele Sosimi (Fela’s musician), Paul O’Sullivan (Stern’s music), London Afrobeat Orchestra and Yabaa funk members.
"Cumbia Rising" will start with a journey in Colombia where the rhythm originated, moving on to Argentina, Mexico, Peru and USA where this genre spread over the years. Finally the documentary will look at the new digital Cumbia scene with exclusive interviews from Systema Solar (Colombia), Grant Dull (Zizek label manager, Argentina), Uproot Andy, Dj Russ Jones, Dj Cal Jader..
