During the 2008 Essakane festival in the desert of Mali, the Dirt Music trio met Tamikrest, a young band of Tuareg guitarists. Their friendship was born after sharing tea and jamming together in the shade of a tent. This led to their collaboration on two different projects. The first was on Tamikrest’s album, "Adagh", produced by Dirt Music. The second was Dirt Music’s own album, "Bko" on which the young Tuaregs were invited as special guests, along with other Malian artists such as Lobi Traore or Disco, from the group Tartit. Recorded in Bamako, the album is clearly influenced by all the different musical styles of Mali. One of the highlights is their version of "All Tomorrow’s Parties" (Velvet Underground), performed by the two bands in a Tamashek style.
